At the Salad Bowl sessions, we mix and remix flavors to bring you the hot dish from the menu!

What is it?

We’re excited to invite you to a Salad Bowl session, where we will challenge common thinking traps in both individual and collective cognition, which shape how society functions. Various real-life examples will be used, ranging from the media and social media to world politics and academia, to show that even the people we consider experts are not immune to simple cognitive errors.

An anonymous connoisseur/Mateusz will guide you through the session, where practical exercises will help you understand how biased our cognition can be, how to identify common pitfalls in ourselves and others, and how to assess complex events in the world using the framework of thinking traps and intuitive thinking.

Let’s get aware, together!

How does it work?

In this special session, we will go identify, train, and discuss our cognitive biases related to intuitive thinking. You will be challenged in the ways you think and process perception. The session covers intuitive thinking topics and introduces subsequent blocks on thinking traps, where participants can deepen their knowledge by learning new cognitive biases.

Eight people gather in an online, anonymous space where they can speak freely and share their unique perspectives. After a brief introduction that presents the main concepts, participants are provided with exercises to engage with and test their own biases. You will work with other participants, either in a group or in a private breakout room, using your newly acquired knowledge to critically assess the materials provided by the facilitator. These collaborative exercises would enhance your learning and leave you with practical tools you can use daily.

The session will be held in English, via audio (cameras are off), shared screen and will use other third-party tools to help keep the session organized.

You are very welcome to come exactly as you are, as all points of view are greatly appreciated.
